Night Climb and Meteor Shower

The traditional mountaineering event “Night ascent to Kamešnica” is being held again this year organized by PD Jelinak Trilj. In the evening, hiking enthusiasts start climbing towards the highest peak of Kamešnica, Konj (1856 meters above sea level). During the ascent, hikers pass through forests, meadows and the picturesque nature of Dalmatian Zagora.

This night is special because sky will be filled with Meteor shower also know as Tears of Saint Lawrence. Expect lots of meteors to streak across the sky, giving the impression of shooting stars. At one point it will appear and then pass through a part of the sky, and it will appear as if “a star is falling from the sky”. If it’s a clear night and the sky is dark, without much moonlight, as expected this year, you can see up to 100 meteors in an hour.

Hike takes about 3 hours and once the top is reached, party will spend few hours stargazing before going back. Hike itself is not challenging and there are multiple guides in the tour. Don’t skip on this stunning experience if you are nature lover.
