Grab Source & Mills
About
The Grab River (officially classified as a stream) is about 3 km long. It was protected in 2000 as a significant landscape. Grab springs near Grab - above the deep blue eye from which the Grab springs noiselessly, is icy water. A huge steep cliff rises above it. Only a few meters downstream is the waterfall. Continuing downstream, the water calmly flows from pool to pool. A few hundred meters downstream are the 600-year-old Grabska mlinice. Downstream from the mills, the river Grab meanders through the northeastern part of the fertile Sinjsko polje, where at the end of its course it joins the river Ruda, which shortly afterwards flows into Cetina. The complex of old mills was created in clean and untouched nature by the source of the river Grab, after which the mills got their name. The oldest ones date from the 17th century, and they were built until the 19th century. The most fascinating thing is that some are still in operation today and in them you can see how flour is ground in the old fashioned way.
